Polish Independence Day

National Independence Day is a public holiday in Poland celebrated every year on 11 November to commemorate the anniversary of Poland's assumption of independent statehood in 1918 after 123 years of partitions by Austria-Hungary, Germany, and Russia.

Independence Day in Poland is celebrated much differently than Independence Day in the USA for example. It is not a joyful day with fireworks and people celebrating it their own way. The day is celebrated mostly by officials. Houses, buildings, buses and trams are embellished with Polish flags.
